Members of the House of Representatives on Thursday finally 'killed' the Peace Corps bill when they failed to override President Muhammadu Buhari on the bill.

The president had last year rejected the bill citing security reasons and lack of funds to establish a new para-military outfit.

Thus, the House resolved to override the president and pass the bill into law.

However, at yesterday's plenary, majority of the lawmakers rejected the move to override the president, saying they agreed with Buhari's position.

The bill was slated for second reading with members taking turns to support and oppose the move.

In the end, when Speaker Yakubu Dogara put it to voice vote, majority of the lawmakers rejected the second reading of the bill.
