The House said the move is to avert reprisal attacks that had claimed several lives and property in the area.
This was just as the lawmakers directed the Inspector General of
Police, Ibrahim Idris and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to
beef up security and provide relief materials to the designated
communities respectively.
The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance to that effect by Abdulrazak Namdas (APC, Adamawa) and seconded by Dickson Tarke (APC, Benue).
Namdas, in a lead debate on the motion, said reprisal attacks in the affected 16 communities in southern areas of Adamawa State had claimed 15 lives and rendered over 300,000 individuals homeless.
