The
Senate has urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to
urgently provide relief materials to victims of flood in Jibia Local
Government Area of Katsina State.
Senators also urged the Federal Government to take measures that would mitigate the sufferings of the victims.

The resolution was sequel to a motion by Senator Umaru Ibrahim Kurfi
(APC, Katsina). Kurfi told the Senate that the flood, which was as a
result of heavy downpour for over four hours, led to the death of over
40 persons.
He said hundreds of residents were still missing, while over 500 houses were destroyed as a result of the flood.
While commiserating with the government and people of Katsina State over the incident, senators observed a minute silence for those that lost their lives.
Meanwhile, Senate President Bukola Saraki expressed heartfelt condolences with the people and government of Katsina and Ogun States over the death, injuries and loss of property occasioned by flood in the respective states.
