The Colombia international was expected to complete a loan move to Turkey in the coming days, with his future at Emirates Stadium up in the air.
Ospina is now considered third choice behind Bernd Leno and Petr Cech in north London and he is expected to be on the move this summer in search of regular first-team football.
Besiktas are the frontrunners to snap him up, but talks have continued to stall over the past few days.
And Napoli have swooped in to try and lure Ospina to Serie A from under the noses of Besiktas.
Napoli have already signed two goalkeepers so far this summer, but with Alex Meret out with a fractured arm Carlo Ancelotti’s side are on the lookout for cover.
And their search has led them to Ospina, who is reportedly mulling over the possibility of a move to Serie A before August’s deadline.
