Comrade Aremu who made the call during an interface with members of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said workers deserved good pay to increase productivity in the civil service.
He called for alliance of political parties and political heavyweights to save Nigerians from poverty and hunger.
Comrade Aremu is contesting for the governorship election in the state on the platform of Labour Party (LP).
A former vice president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Aremu said instead of forming coalition to oust President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC, those behind the move should concentrate the efforts towards eradicating poverty and hunger from Nigeria.
He therefore stressed the need for the Federal Government and state governors to work on the proposed national minimum wage towards raising the living standard of workers.
